Looking Forward to 2017

The chamber board is excited for 2017!  We have been working diligently on rebuilding the Oakley Chamber and getting more businesses involved.  This year we will be hosting a Chamber Mixer the second Wedensday of each month.  I am proud to say our mixer calendar is full and we are now booking mixers for next year.  Hosting a mixer is a great way to welcome others to your business and showcase what you do. It is a great way to network becasue its not just who you know, its who others know.

We also have some great events coming up such as our 3rd Annual Wine and Whiskey dinner at La Grande Event Center on April 29th, 2017.  Tickets go on sale February 1st to chamber members only, then on February 15th to the general public. There will be hors d’ oeuvers, wine and whiskey tasting, buffet dinner, cigar bar, dessert bar, and a live band and dancing.  There is a limited amount of seating so please get your tickets ASAP.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with all of our events this year, if interested please contact the chamber office at 925-625-1035.

We will be doing coffee and donuts with Mayor Higgins quarterly, however to fill in on the monthly Saturdays she is not there we will be having other speakers come in.  These will be at the Oakley Senior Center and we are looking for businesses that would like to sponsor the Coffee and Donuts, so if you have a home based business and would like to get your name out there this is a great opportunity. Please keep watch for this announcement as the first one will be in March. If interested in sponsoring coffee and donuts give the office a call 925-625-1035

We have some other exciting events coming up this year so watch your emails, our web page and our our Facebook page for announcements. If you are not on our email list and want to be. Ask us by emailing us at [email protected]

Also just to reminding you the Chamber does ground breaking and ribbon cutting ceremonies. If you are new to our community or just moved your location why not let everyone know. give us a call or drop us an email.

Ridgewater Realty Services

Dave HansenDave Hansen of Ridgewater Realty is known to many citizens of Oakley from his time campaigning for Oakley City Council. We twisted his arm until he joined the Oakley Chamber of Commerce after the February Mixer.

The Oakley Chamber is pleased to welcome Hook, Line, and Sinker back as members. The Continente family are long-time Oakley residents

Hook, Line, and Sinker is well known in the community for hosting the Annual Kids Fishing Derby in Oakley and the bass tournaments on Bethel Island.

Visit the HookProShop website for specials or take a handgun safety class at their Oakley store.

Larry Jones Doors

Larry Jones was a member of the Oakley Chamber in years past, but had to take some time off due to family issues. He attended the Website Preview Dinner in January and was impressed enough to join again.

Since that time, Larry has become an active member: he attended the February Breakfast with the Mayor and the March Breakfast with the Mayor, and the March Mixer as well.

We’re still waiting for some photos to put on the Larry Jones Doors member profile page, though, because Larry doesn’t have a website. This photo is from the Liftmaster website: Larry is a Liftmaster garage door opener dealer.

La Grande Wedding & Event Center

La Grande Wedding & Event Center Opening

Oakley Chamber President Sallie Goetsch and Oakley Mayor Kevin Romick prepare to cut the ribbon at the LaGrande.

The La Grande Wedding and Event Center joined the Oakley Chamber of Commerce just in time for its ribbon cutting ceremony on January 19th, 2013. Owner “Mother” Theresea Fiore Bragg enlisted her daughters Renee and Tracy and about a dozen grandchildren in managing the event.

With 10 acres of space divided into gardens and water features, as well as a splendid marquee, The La Grande provides Oakley with a welcome space in which to hold large outdoor events, and bridal parties with a palatial location to prepare for their ceremonies. The La Grande also provides complete wedding and event planning services, including marriage ceremonies performed by Theresa herself.

Scruffy Dog Productions

Tom Cusack of Scruffy Dog ProductionsTom Cusack of Scruffy Dog Productions has generously offered to record short videos of Ribbon Cuttings, Groundbreaking Ceremonies, and other Chamber events so we can post them here on our website. (He has also offered to do a video interview for ThePress.net about the website itself.)

Tom named his business for his dog Dixie.

Be sure to get in touch with Tom if you need videos for your business! See some examples on his YouTube channel.

Good Scents Florist

The Oakley Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome Good Scents Florists back as a member. (We missed you!) In case you’re not familiar with them, Good Scents is a family-owned business on Main Street in Oakley (just across from the Chamber office, in fact) that receives rave reviews on Yelp for its wedding and Valentine’s bouquets. Steve Harland has been a big winner in some of our mixer raffles, too!
